Semi-Final, Sitball National Championship 2015 ended successfuly at Rubavu (Updated)

This Saturday and Sunday 16&17 May 2015 at Rubavu district in Western Province, the semi-final of Sitball National Championship 2015 took place. This phase follows two others which took place in 4 provinces of Rwanda and Kigali City.

In this phase 10 men and 8 women’s teams were present representing their districts. These teams got qualification from eliminatories on provinces which qualified 2 first teams for both men and women.

"In general, 22 districts participated in this 2015 National Championship and we hope that next year all 30 districts will participate. We are going to help those remaining 8 districts and we hope to reach the target...." by Dr. Dieudonné Mutangana (Ph.D), the vice president of NPC Rwanda in charge of sports development and organising competitions. Men teams were: Gisagara, Stera/Huye, Gasabo/Intwari, Kicukiro, Musanze, Gicumbi, Rutsiro, Rubavu, Kirehe, Bugesera. Women Teams were: Ngoma, Bugesera, Rubavu, HVP Gatagara, Nyamagabe, Nyarugenge, Intwari/Gasabo, Gicumbi, Musanze

Nyamagabe district didn’t afford to come due to financial challenges within its district.

After two days of competition, the ranking of teams are as follows:



Finals will be hosted at Amahoro National Stadium of Remera on 6th and 7th June 2015.

5 first teams will compete for the 2015 Championship title and cup while the rest will compete for ranking and other prices. This means that next time, teams to fight for title and cupare as follows; in men category: Gisagara, Intwari, Musanze, Rutsiro and Rubavu, in Women category: Intwari, Gicumbi, Musanze, HVP Gatagara, and Nyarugenge.

The first teams will get 500,000Rwf, the second 300,000Rwf and the 3rd 200,000Rwf respectively for men and women.

NPC Rwanda takes this opportunity to thank all teams and their districts taking part of this National Championship 2015 and would like to thank specially Governor of Western Province, Mayor of Gisagara, Rubavu and Ngoma districts, Vice Mayors and District representatives at all levels, the president of NCPD and other authorities and supporters who were physically present at venues to support the Paralympic movement. NPC Rwanda hopes that this support will continue in the same way.
