CBM SITTINGVOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT

From 25th to 26th November 2016 in Musanze, NPC Rwanda organized a tournament called” CBM sitting volleyball tournament for development” where 6 teams from district of Gasabo, Gakenke, Bugesera, Musanze, Gicumbi and Ruhango participated. This competition is in the frame work of a project financed by CBM and coordinated by NUDOR. The project is aiming to reach the highest level in sitting volleyball for women with disabilities in Rwanda. In addition, this project contributed to the qualification and participation of Rwanda women sitting volleyball national team to Rio 2016 paralympic games

The competition was played in 2 pools where Gasabo, Bugesera and Gakenke districts were in pool A while Gicumbi, Ruhango and Musanze were in pool B. Preliminaries were played on Friday 26/11/2016. Both the semi final and final have been played Saturday 27/11/2016. The preliminaries have been played in best 3 system while semi final and final were played in best five system

The final ranking was as follow: 1st Gasabo 2nd Gicumbi 3rd Musanze 4th Bugesera 5th Gakenke 6th Ruhango

According to the sequence of matches, the level of competition was good and the 72 players present at the competition showed determination and fair play. According the game showed by the teams, no doubt that this project contributed to the improvement of the level of the players especially the new players who started sitting volleyball last year
